Ridgeland, MS – This GivingTuesday, SR1 will inspire generosity by expanding STEM education opportunities for students in Central Mississippi.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement that encourages people and organizations to give back and strengthen their communities. This year’s event takes place on November 30, 2021, launching a season of giving that continues throughout the year.

SR1 is participating in GivingTuesday to raise support for its successful out-of-school programs and the upcoming SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy, scheduled to open in Fall 2022 in Canton, Mississippi. The Academy will be the state’s first STEM charter school for grades K–5, while SR1’s out-of-school programs already serve students in grades K–12 across Central Mississippi. Both initiatives help students build a strong foundation for future academic and career success.

Donations made on GivingTuesday will directly support these programs, providing high-quality learning opportunities and educational enrichment for children in the region.

SR1 has achieved a 100% on-time high school graduation rate and a 100% college enrollment rate. This success strengthens Mississippi’s economy and workforce,” said Dorlisa Hutton, SR1 Chief Operating Officer. “Donations will allow us to continue providing free, year-round, college preparatory services to K–12 students and their families in Central Mississippi. Every contribution, large or small, makes a lasting difference in a child’s life.
