Forest, MS – The Forest High School Bearcats Football Program received a donation from a local non-profit.

The team was awarded $500 from SR1 Community Oriented Opportunities for Learning (C.O.O.L.)™ Zone Scott County Promise Neighborhood Initiative

The program, founded by Forest native, Tamu Green, is a cradle-to-career initiative designed to ensure every child and family has equal opportunity to succeed. Forest, located in Scott County, is a central site for this work, where SR1 integrates academic support, health and wellness, family empowerment, and innovation-driven programs to build stronger communities.

Dorlisa Hutton, SR1 COO presented the check Friday, August 29, to the Bearcats head football coach, Tobias Lofton, of the Forest Municipal School District in recognition of his outstanding leadership and role as a mentor to student-athletes. Coach Lofton has long been a respected role model, inspiring his players not only on the football field but also in life, through values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.

“Coach Lofton embodies the spirit of leadership we want young people in Forest and across Scott County to see every day,” said SR1 Founder and CEO, Tamu Green. “Supporting his team is just one way we show our commitment to the whole community—from the classroom, to the playing field, to future career pathways.”

Beyond athletics, SR1 will continue to invest in educational supports, enrichment programs, and fun community activities throughout the school year—ensuring that Forest students and families have access to the tools and opportunities that lead to long-term success.

This contribution highlights SR1’s belief that investing in youth role models and community partnerships creates a culture where achievement is the expectation, not the exception. By aligning with school leaders and families, SR1 is helping transform Scott County into a place where opportunity and prosperity are possible for every child.

Green said the funds provided to the team will go towards the team's needs for this upcoming football season.
