JACKSON, Miss. -- Walk onto the campus of historic Millsaps College right now and you will find something remarkable: more than 150 of Central Mississippi's most motivated young scholars -- selected from schools across the region -- coding, creating, pitching ideas, and building their futures in real time. SR1 College Preparatory & STEM Academy's 14th Annual Summer Camp is officially underway, and media are invited to come witness the next generation of Mississippi leaders in action.

Designed for Deep Learning -- and Real Fun

The curriculum powering every activity, session, and breakthrough moment was crafted by two of SR1's leading STEM Learning Designers: Tzu Hsin Huang and Yu-Hsuan Liou. Their design philosophy is simple but powerful: deep learning should also be deeply engaging. Every week of camp is intentionally engineered so that students are not just absorbing information -- they are thinking critically, collaborating authentically, and having the time of their lives doing it. The result is a program that feels like summer and performs like a masterclass.

This is not just one school's story -- it's a regional movement. Select K-12 students from some of Central Mississippi's most dedicated school communities have earned their spots at camp, representing:

Each student was selected for this fully free, sponsored experience -- valued at $2,100 per participant -- making this one of the most meaningful and accessible college-prep programs in the state.

SR1 CPSA Vanguard Students: Top Scores, Top-Tier Energy

Leading the charge are SR1's own CPSA Vanguard scholars -- the academy's elite K-4th grade students who have risen to the top of statewide academic rankings. These exceptional young learners are not just attending camp; they are setting the pace for every student in the room. Watching a second-grader explain a coding concept to a fifth-grader, or a kindergartner confidently stand up and share what health means to them -- that is the Vanguard difference. These are the scores that make headlines, but it's the character behind them that makes the real story.

Five Weeks. Five Doors Opened.

Designed by Huang and Liou for maximum impact, the five themed weeks build on each other from day one:

• Week 1 -- Life & Health Skills: Confidence, resilience, leadership habits, and the powerful message that health is wealth.

• Week 2 -- College Prep: Scholarships, wealth habits, smart study systems, and a student portfolio they can build on all year.

• Week 3 -- Cultural Arts & Literacy: Reading, writing, and speaking elevated through culture and creativity.

• Week 4 -- Computer Science: Coding, data, AI basics, and cyber safety -- digital skills for a digital world.

• Week 5 -- STEM Capstone Showcase: Teams solve a real-world problem, build a prototype, and deliver a live pitch. The room erupts.

Every camp seat is fully sponsored at no cost to families -- a $2,100 value per student. College-style meals are served daily on the Millsaps campus, and transportation assistance is available for select students and locations. With a maximum enrollment of 150 students, every scholar receives focused attention, real mentorship, and a summer experience that rivals any program in the country.

The SR1 C.O.O.L. Zone: Support That Does Not Stop in August

Every camper graduates into automatic SR1 C.O.O.L. Zone Membership -- a cradle-to-career support ecosystem offering year-round classes, STEM and financial literacy workshops, 1-on-1 college planning guidance, and early access to special SR1 opportunities.
