SR1 C.O.O.L.™ Zone 5K

Held at Gaddis Park in Forest, Mississippi (Scott County), this event brings together students, families, educators, and community leaders for a fun and interactive day of lifelong learning and healthy living — cornerstones of the C.O.O.L.™ Zone mission.

Give Back While You Dash: Participants can raise funds for their favorite Scott County organizations (school clubs, church groups, local nonprofits). For each person who completes the 5K, SR1 donates \$5 to the registered organization of their choice; 2.5K participants earn \$2.50 each for their chosen group (minimum group registration required for eligibility). It’s a healthy competition that gives back to the community!

Participants (students) will explore:

  • STEM Learning Stations: Hands-on science and technology activities for all ages (robotics demos, chemistry experiments, etc.).

  • Health & Nutrition Booths: Wellness demonstrations, healthy snack tastings, and basic health screenings (like blood pressure checks).

  • Literacy Pop-Ups: Storytime tents, reading corners, and free book giveaways for children to spark a love of reading.

  • Cultural Corner: Explore language, heritage, and global traditions through music, art, and displays from different cultures.

  • Community Resource Stops: Local organizations, colleges, and nonprofits share information about education, health, and social services available in the community.
